On 19th May, 2016, the first batch of optical fibre was successfully manufactured in HTGD (Hengtong Optic-electric Co., Ltd)’s Brazilian Branch——Hengtong Brazil). Those optical fibres will be used to build the optical network in Rio de Janeiro, the city of 2016 Olympic Games. As one of the four major telecomm operators in Brazil, Oi is also the country’s biggest native Operator. After Oi’s field visit and overall evaluation on Hengtong Brazil’s performance in technology innovation, quality of products and good delivery capacity, Hengtong Brazil entered into a strategic partnership for communication cable supply with Oi in the middle of April, 2016. Such movement shows Hengtong’s good reputation among Brazilian Operators as well as its strength among cable supplier. Hengtong is now making initial achievements in its internationalization strategy.
As one of the most important developing countries in the world, Brazil possesses a large market capacity of Optical fiber cables. According to one report from CRU, in the 5 years to come, the demand in Brazil’s optical fibre market will increase by 9% annually. Meanwhile, the Department for Communication in Brazil also released a national broadband development plan named “Smart Brazil”, which says that till 2019, the broadband access will cover around 90% of the Brazilians. Moreover, to improve its capability of network data transmission and guarantee communication security, Brazil will also construct 6 submarine optical cables which may connect Europe, Africa, USA and Brazil together.
