Raisecom attended Futurecom 2017 in São Paulo, Brazil, held on October 2-5. As usual, the show was large and exciting and the best place to see upcoming telecom market trends in Latin America.
Raisecom’s booth was quite busy during the show. Representatives from all the major service providers and utilities in Brazil and other Latin American countries were interested in Raisecom’s solutions. This year, the booth was attended by a solid mix of nation-wide and regional providers, reflecting Raisecom’s growing offering to the Brazilian and other Latin American markets.
The Brazilian market is characterized by large deployment of fiber, in both access and transmission part of the network, therefore the locally homologated products Raisecom focused on were for WDM/OTN , GPON and Ethernet/MEF CE deployments.
The market was especially interested in Raisecom’s new line of ‘pizza box’ OTN WDMs. These make for a compact and cost-effective solution for metro networks, data center interconnect or LTE and 5G ready fronthaul.
Another highlight at the show were Raisecom’s GPON products. The compact OLTs designed to serve a few thousand subscribers proved to be of great interest to the regional carriers, while large and small carriers were interested in the field-proven ethernet and “triple play services” ONTs. A surprise hit was the GPON ‘Stick’, a GPON in SFP-format that service providers are interested in to extend GPON to business customers.
Utilities showed an interest in the new ITN-221 compact PTN platform, that enables smooth migration from SDH to PTN (MPLS-TP) for critical mission networks. Many remarked on the comprehensiveness of the feature set in such a compact and cost-effective box.
Raisecom plans to continue focusing on the Brazilian and Latin American markets, and to homologate products for local use. We’re looking forward to introducing more exciting products at the show next year!
