Globe telecom is encouraging its mobile customers to shift to LTE-capable devices, amid the operator's accelerating deployment of LTE sites in the 700 MHz spectrum.
“[...]a significant number of our customers continue to be serviced by our 3G network. We strongly advise these customers to use LTE-capable devices so they can also experience better internet experience”, said Globe SVP Joel Agustin. Customers shifting to LTE-powered devices should also use LTE SIM cards, he added.
Globe Telecom reports it has deployed around 800 LTE sites using the 700 MHz band. Most of the operator's L700 sites were deployed in Metro Manila and other highly-populated areas where the majority of customers are using LTE-based handsets. Globe also says it has activated 1,200 additional LTE sites using its additional spectrum allocation in the 2600 megahertz band.
