Carrying more than 95% of voice and data traffic around the world, the role of the undersea network has evolved from transatlantic telegraphs transmission in the 18th century to mission critical infrastructure supporting today’s global economy.
But as the world becomes increasingly connected, demand for low latency, greater capacity and more flexible networks continues to escalate. To meet this challenge, the industry needs to continually anticipate, innovate and collaborate to survive and thrive in an age of exploding bandwidth. Agility, security, scale and sound planning will be the key traits of success as the world shifts towards an on-demand, digital economy.

Nokia paves the road to 5G by via current 4G infrastructure
Nokia has set up a network evolution path that will allow operators to leverage existing investments and maximise assets such as spectrum, as they evolve towards 5G.
To this end, Nokia is adding to the Nokia AirScale Remote Radio Head portfolio, enabling operators to increase peak performance and cell capacity while reducing space requirements at cell sites via new dual- and single-band FDD-LTE and TD-LTE radios. These leverage carrier aggregation techniques, 4x4 MIMO and 8x4 Beamforming, while addressing demand for higher output power, extending frequency band support and simplifying network rollouts.
To augment heterogeneous network deployments and boost coverage and capacity in the busiest hotspots - especially in dense urban environments - operators will need to deploy the next wave of small cells.

Record audience expected in Wuhan to learn about the next era of FTTH demand at CRU's World Optical Fibre & Cable Conference CRU’s World Optical Fibre & Cable conference has experienced incredible growth since its launch in 2015. This year the conference, which is again hosted by YOFC, one of the leading manufacturers in the optical communications industry, is returning to the Optical Valley in Wuhan China on the 1-3 November. CRU is expecting over 700 attendees at what has now become established as the world’s premier event for producers of optical fibre and cable. The optical fibre and cable sector is at an interesting crossroads, as the high demand caused by the large scale FTTH deployment around the world is being replaced by new fibre requirements in data-centre network expansion and the arrival of 5G networks.more>>

Ciena: What is submarine networking?
Without submarine networks, the global Internet that we all know, use, and utterly depend on each day for business and personal uses simply would not exist.
There’s a popular misconception that satellites carry data from continent to continent. The truth is, satellites account for a miniscule amount of the data that speeds around the globe every day. Submarine networks do the serious work—all from hundreds or thousands of feet below the surface of the world’s oceans.
Multiple access technologies using licensed and unlicensed spectrum give enterprises access to highly secure, reliable networks with guaranteed low-latency
Small cells, Multi-access Edge Computing, and Packet Core enhancements offer businesses flexibility to either self-manage networks or work with operators
Nokia technology lets enterprises connect and track assets, automate workflows and leverage advanced analytics capabilities to streamline operations
Portfolio expansion supports Nokia strategy to provide carrier-grade communications for the enterprise digital transformation

Hengtong Marine Attended The Twentieth SNW Asia Pacific Submarian Cable Summit SNW(Submarine Network World) has been held 19 session till now, which is held in Singapore every year. The event is relatively important exhibition covering the Asia Pacific region within submarine cable industry by its powerful professional quality. This year is the SNW’s 20th anniversary, which was held on September 25th-27th in Singapore Convention and Exhibition Center. The theme of this year's meeting is "break the border", which means challenging traditions, doubting future’s possibilities and preparing for future. In future, flexible networks and diversified route choices will become of the base of the future global interconnected communities.
