China Mobile to build private 5G networks for faster industrial application of tech
China Mobile, the nation's largest telecom operator, has officially unveiled its plans to help a variety of industries build private 5G networks-a move expected to accelerate the application of the superfast wireless technology in manufacturing, healthcare, vehicles, ports and other areas.
Zhao Dachun, deputy general manager of China Mobile, said 5G is deeply integrated with artificial intelligence, the internet of things, cloud computing, big data and other technologies, which will help thousands of industries embrace digitalization.

DCMS confirms ban on Huawei equipment for 5G networks
The UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has announced that equipment produced by China’s Huawei must be removed from the UK’s 5G networks by the end of 2027, following new advice produced by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on the impact of US sanctions against the Chinese telecommunications vendor.
In a press release regarding the development, the DCMS noted that the decision had been taken in a meeting of the National Security Council yesterday (14 July) chaired by the Prime Minister. In the wake of new US sanctions imposed on Huawei in May, it was said that with the technical experts at the NCSC having reviewed the consequences of such measures, it had been concluded that the equipment maker would need to do a major reconfiguration of its supply chain.
